Took the Golden Girl to the plastic surgeon today. Mirrors and some minor touch ups for next month and a less minor bumper respray as some ass decided to scuff right across the n/s/f . Also a few more bits as jobs for the winter, when both he and...
Anyone owning a Land Rover is suspect. Owning two, particularly a non-runner pretty much seals it. Every extra Land Rover after that is just an indication of the level of insanity.
A 4 year old thread ressurected ....
You use a 75W90 oil.
Wether is has Molybdenum in it or not will make little to who-ha of a difference.
Semi synth or fully synth, it doesn't matter it's in a differential of a road car in the UK.
If you were...
My secret leak tracker is talcum powder, some leaks only show under pressure and by the time you stop and search the water has dried, (I spent months tracking a tiny pinhole in a heater hose that dribbled down to the top of the gearbox on our...
Thanks!
Been out today and drove about 20 miles total, all seems to be good so far.
I did smell some burning from under the bonnet, maybe because the heat shields are off?
I tried to check the coolant level when I got home, but now my bonnet...
Yep. Now in my collection behind my house.
Pulled it effortlessly. According to the Nanocom the coolant temperature varied between 85 and 91C unladen and pretty much solid at 90C fully laden no matter what the terrain or speed.
I'll push zddp too. It was only removed for emissions purposes! It helps massively with the cams/flat tappet lifters.
It's for this reason i don't recommend fully synthetic. It won't do the cams/lifters any good long term
I always used valvoline...
Started the scrapper. Bit odd.
Reconnected battery and everything worked again! Tried to start and everything went dark again. Tried a jump lead from battery negative to engine and even battery positive to starter positive but no change...
Doesn't matter if semi-synthetic or fully synthetic. Shell always used to have the best oils. Their additives seemed to be very good. Whether this is still the case I am unsure. Some people like @Henry_b recommend an oil high in ZDDP or something...
There is a potentiometer in the pump top. I'm trying to remember what it looked like but I recall you can clean it. I think it might have some sort of ribbon cable that solders on one side in order to get it out and clean underneath it but I...
I wouldn't touch that pump too much. Tap it to idle at 750 rpm and leave it. If there is no throttle response then someone may have had the top off and not engaged the pin into the collar.
Well, the car was cheap and meant to be a project/learning experience. So I tapped on the cat with a steel bar and it was a very muffled sound - maybe it was plugged. So I cut the exhaust right before the cat. Made zero difference other than noise 😂.
Getting them out isn't an issue. Getting them to sit right when you put them back can be. Easy with the dash out but not always so easy to get them locked in place otherwise.
I cannot remember what product I used off Amazon but you started the...
Had a bit of bad luck and then good fortune. Had work mens large van on driveway today and decided to reverse the P38 off passed it. Yikes caught passenger wing mirror on their side door handle and made a mess of the mirror. My fault no damage...
