Finally got round to doing this job, you were right it was very awkward, looking at RAVE its a 20 minute job which isnt the case! Even with the wheel arch liner removed it was still a pain but doable!!! I only had one hose so my P38 is obviously...
Yes you can do it but it's very awkward. I did mine after removing the tank for a pump replacement. RAVE makes it sound easier than it actually is !!
Ideally drain the tank first, because then you can do both hoses. Use some soapy water...
Cylinder 8 looks very funky, something is not right there. The whole bore is very black with lots of carbon buildup. What ive circled in green kindof looks like a hotspot. What ive circled in blue looks like a crack in the liner to me.
Send some...
Ratchet ring spanner perhaps? Sometimes helps to press down where the hinge is after removing the nut to take the tension off the wiper and allow it to wiggle off the spindle.
If anyone is on here looking for the source of odd vibrations then this sounds like an easy place to start:
1) are propshafts slightly out of phase?
2) is the nub in the missing tooth or have they reassembled in the wrong place?
Reminds me, I...
From quite a number of hours of research on the proshaft phasing topic:
In phase being where the u joints line up with each other like the rear driveshaft does.
-All genuine LR front driveshafts for the P38 have the u joints set slightly out of...
I think I might need @brianp38dse or @gstuart for their opinion here!
5/8" is nearly but not quite 15 mm? My house is all imperial pipework and I know damn well that 15 or 22 mm olives leak every time but you can get olives from Screwfix that...
Straight edge and feeler gauges should be enough. Make sure surfaces are clean using plastic edge or something softer than the metal so it doesn't scratch the surface. Clean with soft rag and solvent like diesel or petrol.
My oil cooler pipes are leaking really badly now. Thinking of fitting a compression fitting and then just standard rubber pipe connected with a barbed fitting. Oil cooler pipe is the worst and has an outer diameter of 5/8". Only connectors I can...
I seem to recall a lot of the values were nowhere near what the Nanocom documentation said they should be but it didn't matter. I had some traces saved but they're all xlsb and I cannot open them on this computer. I'll try and find what mine were.
I'ma hold off, been pointed out my fuel temp is way out, so gonna change that before I touch anything else, as the pump thinks the fuel is way colder than it should be.
Last time 3yrs ago they found that great tumor if you remember Looking for different result this time. I had to stay very close to loo after the Klene prep and do agree not very nice.
Thanks for the best wishes.
Here is the row about driveshaft phasing. Wammers at his finest, enjoy...

You can't change it, but original LR driveshafts have the UJ's at slightly different...
I would imagine less power if elements are failing as they won't be in the circuit anymore.
Some of the lines across mine have failed. I need one of those pens with conducting fluid to join them back up again.
...a small addendum.
The new one wasn't delivered - delay...
So I pulled the pin out of the old one, pressed the brake pedal and put the old one back in - and lo and behold - everything is great again.
Thanks to everyone for the great support...
As above.
My rear one has started leaking so I am going to have to do the same job. At the risk of hijacking the thread, on tightening back up does it have a sort of crushable washer or do you just mark everything up and tighten until the marks...
The vibration could be that your front driveshaft is not phased correctly. The u-joints need to be installed slightly out of phase.
Could also be pinion carrier bearings, can you feel any play in the pinion when jerking it around by hand?
The...
If the diff flange is worn then the seal won't seal against it. Also the seal is different depending on what mud shield your flange has.
I am presuming the diff is the same as a Defender, if not ignore me.
Normally you put them in, lower a bit on the jack and make sure the bag is folding over nicely, let it inflate slightly then pop the boot and adjust as necessary, then lower a bit more. Then shut the boot and hopefully it will lift itself off the...
I drove her over the hill and far away. Ok not that far away, about 30 miles. BUT she started with ease every time I had to go do something. I know it's foolhardy but i feel so confident in her starting, I've actually gone on standby. o_Oπ
