The advice seems to be fit genuine Land Rover (in a Land Rover box), that's what I did. I have read of aftermarket failing out of the box.

Is it that hard to drop the tank and do it properly?

Remove the belt, check all bearing, tensioner. You can run it for a short period of time to see if the noise is gone, with the belt off.

The other switch? Ones switches the lights on/off the other operates the high and low. If you used a Britpart cheapest version it may well have failed already.

Within the gasket set is a bag of rubber o-rings and copper (maybe) washers. Anyone know what the o-rings are for? Two are for the camshaft gear bolt, the others?

Not really. Based on the amount of gunge I got out of them and the state of the nozzles I am quite optimistic that there will be an improvement.

Looks like a fuel cut off solenoid/tap some one has fitted. Utterly pointless unless it's hidden under the seatbox somewhere. I would remove it/fix it before it burns to the ground.

I wouldn't do it on an internal thread but two of our injector pipe to pump outlet leaked so I used some ptfe tape. Have to be careful with it obviously. Let's us know what Diesel Bob says, he was very helpful when we had an issue. Ours drives...
