I have just been outbid again on eBay for a new replacement Weber carb for my 2 1/4 series 3!

I can get a repair kit for the original Zenith which works fine apart from the dodgy tickover. Included in the kit is a new throttle spindle and flap which appears to be the cause of my problems, as mine is very, very worn.

My question is, has anyone used these rebuild kits and had good results, and secondly is the spindle sacrificial ie could the retaining bushes be worn cos these aren't included from what I can see!:(

Kit is about £18.00 including postage but could be the cheapest and easiest option!:)

ive got a webber and a k & n fer sale if yer interested , the weber is still on the inlet manifold ;)

Not too happy with my Weber. Blocked jets and hard to set up plus a loss in power. Tempted to swap back to zenith since i heard new ones can be had for £60?

Just an update! I have now re-built the Zenith carb replacing all jets, gaskets, mixture screw, diaphragm and throttle butterfly and shaft.:)

It now runs like a dream and the tickover problem has gone!:D

The rebuild took about four hours and cost just over £16.........I'm well chuffed with results!:)

PS I didn't realise there are TWO different Zeniths an early and a late.........only difference is the mixture screw has a locknut on the early version and a spring on the later!
