I have a Zavoli LPG system on my Disco 2 and it takes an age to switch over from petrol. Does any guru know if it is possible to bypass the thermal/time switch so I can switch it over manually once it has started. I also fancy trying to start it on gas and save even more petrol.
Cheers

The temp & rpm that the changeover happens is adjustable in the LPG ECU software, you will need the correct disk & a laptop, or alternativly take to an installer who's familiar with Zavoli.
Mine has been taking a while to change over recently, put it down to low ambient temps & use of the heater. If it changes over too quickly in the cold the regulator/vapouriser may ice up

Yes thanks. I took it to a local LPGA installer just after I bought it to have the gas system checked. He hooked it up to a laptop and went into the settings. Apparently the amount of settings available to change are limited as laptops do not have an old fashioned printer port.
After reading posts, I understood that some peeps are starting on gas, or switching to gas immediately after starting and this is what I am after trying.
I take on board what you say about the vaporiser icing, but why does it not cause other people problems?

buy the software and dongle from tinley..do it yourself..
it wont start on gas,it wont let you..besides its bad..the gas needs to be at a certain temp to allow the ecu to "work" properly,it really dont like it..also the lpg contains oily impurities which at a low temp will gum up the injectors, espically the matrix type..

dont start on gas then??

min setting on mine is 20c..ie water temp read at vaporiser has to be 20c to switch over...even the zav manual states allow car to reach running temp before switch over..

only other option is to install electric preheater in vaporiser heater circuit, to speed up warm up times.

its the vaporiser that needs to be warm, not so much the engine.

cheers
