Hi guys,
Excuse me being a bit cheeky but I'm looking for a new bonnet for my Zambezi Silver D2 facelift td5 after colliding with a large deer up here in the West Highlands.
I've called breakers all over and mentioned it on here before but still no luck.
I'm not a mechanic or sprayer and doing the work myself due to the usual financial pressures we all have so trying to source the parts already the right colour.
If anyone knows of or is breaking one this colour please drop me a line.
Great site and as I'm on my third Landy, it has been more help in the past than I can say so fingers crossed this time too.
Thanks in advance,
Rob

Hi Discodriver......yes, I think you're probably right but I live in hope!!
I'm spraying up the end caps, primed as we speak and 'hardening-up' in the loft prior to the rest of the job.
Got a nice wing in silver but not certain it's in Zambezi, close but just not quite and seller didn't know the code.
So, it'll go on and meanwhile, I'll see about getting the dent out of the original or I'll keep looking for Zambezi and re-fleabay the temporary one when one comes up.
The bonnet, while dented and unsightly actually closes so again, it'll just have to do while I keep looking.
Intend to post up pics of jobs as I go for other diy numpties like me!
Cheers

Have you tried Kevin at bankhead Caravans in Glenrothes.
He is breaking a number of Disco 2's at the moment.
Number I have is 07969961385, may not be correct.
Worth a try

Cheers Jim, I'll give him a ring tomorrow.
Weather forecast is pretty dire again for this region so getting too much time to go on here and not on the car. Pleasures of 'al fresco' maintenance.

Further note: Rang Jim and found I'd just missed the bits I wanted! Nice bloke, I'll definitely keep his number.
Cheers

Update on this one. So far:
The reclaimed wing was a result. It's the same colour and in better nick.
Lights off fleabay coming. Good ones this time. I got a pair off a breaker and not one fastening was intact. Returned 'em after a phone call to say they were not 'fit for purpose' and could not be fitted. Refund on way. (better fecin be.).
End caps sprayed up lovely, though I say it myself. Thanks to the advice from greatgat273 on here. Thanks mate.
While the bumpers still off, I'm replacing the PAS pump. I finally managed to get the correct O ring/seal from a pump refurbishment place. Didn't cure it so he's getting my business on a refurbed pump.
The more I look, the more I find and am beginning to feel guilty for not really keeping on top of it. Third Landy now so I should know better!!
While it's sitting there, I've bought replacement N/S and O/S rear mudguard/splash parts. Bargain off fleabay from a 'former Landy owner'! The metal bits as the rubbers are okay and will re-use. That was part of the MOT 'advisories' - excessive corrosion. Hah! Looked like brown lace work. Grinder out and small galvanised bolts back in instead with new panels, which I'm spraying up with stone guard/anti-chip paint.
Rear step coming off too. It's foot-plate part not safe. Used one coming so I'm going to clean up all the metal in the rear area. Okay, gentle use of a chipping hammer and a wire brush!! May spray that with stone chip too or have a look at waxoil.
I've also noticed the plastic trims on the sills are hiding the beginnings of surface rust so that's gone on the list too, as has the corrosion appearing on the underside of the rear doors. After a good rub down and anti-rust treatment (not sure if that stuff works but nothing ventured...) I think careful masking and the old stone chip will come into play once again.
I read in another post on here, if you're not prepared to get stuck in (rightly or wrongly), the green oval is not for you......or is it just a mild case of suppressed masochism?
Cheers
Rob
