Not me btw. I was watching a Swiss family on YouTube and they’ve started a trans-America journey; however, this has been thwarted by a broken gearbox. I was watching previous videos and they’ve indicated that they drove their car “like they stole it”! It’s a TDCi 110, pop-up roof, lifted, big wheels, 4 people and fully loaded.

Have they caused unnecessary stress and damage to their Defender drive-train due to carelessness?

Sounds very likely, could be something basic like half shaft or CV or more serious like diff, or clutch or box itself.

Off-Track Family

They bought another brand of 4x4 whilst waiting for a new gearbox to be delivered!
Oh, my land rover had broken down, just buy another one.
I quite like to watch some similar channels, I liked the one of a couple travelling in a blue Td5 .

Have a look on you tube "The search for Popski's Lost Patrol" Popski and his private army were desert raiders in WW2 much like the Long Range Desert Group and S.A.S. An expedition searches for the remains of the lost patrol using a number of interesting Land Rovers. Break downs, fixes and recovery's from the sand on the way.
