I think it's saying seven people not seven adults ie five plus two in comfort which I would agree with. Seven adults no.

Did BMW have any input at all in the design and manufacturing process of the TD5 engine? I'm new to the brand so wouldn't know as well as you guys... if BMW owned JLR during that period then surely they would have had a lot of input?

Yes they cancelled the TD4 and TD6

Well the last 2 in moderate comfort i'm touching 6ft and found the rear seats to be ok'ish in the disco 2 ;)

LR designed the engine as part of a modular range TD4/5/6 2.0/2.5/3.0 litre all the same bore/stroke just more cylinders for more capacity, BMW bought LR and used their own engines in the TD4/6 models.
It was along the same lines as the Rover K series petrol engines.

Know one knows it all about LRs as there so much to know and you can learn anew thing everyday, keep on reading this or other forums and you will be amazed what you pick up.

Because so many of you seemed to enjoy the origins of this thread when I exposed the classic car magazine feature last month, I thought I would treat you to this months installment! Another popular and credible classic magazine featuring the P38A and D2. It's a shame that the writer has borrowed a pair of petrol V8's for his review and back to back test - I think he should have tried a bit harder and sourced a TD5 D2. Anyhow, the article is too long for me to include here, just giving you the mag title and heads up so you can stand in Smiths and read it yourself

The P38a was the most under appreciated vehicle made by LR, huge luxury and although at the time it was very complex, we are talking about an era when points and condensers were still off the shelf items at any motorfactors and even some main dealers ;)

P38a's are massively appreciating in value for good, clean and fully functioning models that have lead sheltered lives.
