Hi all , I have a question for you , Is it normal that when the injector and leak off pipes are disconnected, I turn the ignition on and fuel pumps out of the leak offs not the injector pipes.

If it's common rail, the injectors are opened electronically, if the engine is not turning they will not be activated, but not sure what you mean by "injector and leak off pipes disvonnected"

Right what I have done is taken out the injectors ready to fit another set to see if this gets the car to start. So what I did was I cranked the motor to make sure that the fuel was coming through to the injectors.
When I cranked it over there was a lot of fuel coming out of the leak off pipes but very little out of the fuel delivery pipes. So I was wondering if this is normal.
I really am scratching my head with this one and don't want it to beat me because I really like the this motor.

if i remember correctly, the return line from the hp pump regulator and injector leakoff pipework are connected together, so you will have fuel flow, just follow the pipework and check it out.
i would now be looking at the cam sensor, and as you are removing the injectors, look at my thread regarding testing injectors by re rigging the pipework, when you crank the engine you will see each injector fire , if its firing the engine will start, unless the timing has shifted(and the timing can shift as i found out, the sprockets are on a taper)

I have had the pipes connected with the injectors out and none of them gave any spray.
I have also carried out a pulse test which also seamed to me to be fine.So I am picking up some injectors hopefully this week from a friend to see if that works.
I will let you know how that goes. But if anybody can come up with anything els in the meantime I would be very grateful.

Hi
Im having similar problems with my 2004 TD4 Not getting any signal down wires to injectors.
Thinking of changing crankshaft sensor first. Can anyone tell me if its possible to put in a secondhand ECU and have it work, or do I have to buy a new blank one as Ive been told by garage, so that everything works !!

Hi if you buy a second hand engine ECU then you need the immobiliser and keys as a matched set so that it'll work.

There is a once only write of the fixed immobilisation code into the ECU so in theory you'd need a new Ecu if that's all you Wanted to change
