Hi all

just a quick question about my 2001 td4

ive been getting a strange noise from front drivers wheel area ,had a quick look under the car today to find that the front anti roll bar seems to be hitting on the bottom corner of the front shock !!!!

its strange as on the other side it seems to sit around 1 inch away from it

what could of coursed this ?????

i no my bottom engine mount is worn but im sure that would have no effect to the anti roll bar (or would it?)

it had new antiroll bushes fitted last year (was a pain as had to drop front subframe as bolts where all seized(

and it also had new drop links fitted at same time

so again any ideas? (enless the drop links have gone again :0 ,but surely should last longer than around 9 mnths!!! esp seeing where gen parts)

cheers
griff

I had the same thing - it could be the retining tabs on the anti-roll bar - they tend to snap / break off after a while allowing the bar to move left and right.

There are two fixes i know of: 1) a new anti-roll bar 2) use some spare rubber and some jubilee clips as new tabs.

My bar moved over and pierced the right damper, resulting in two new dampers being needed, but the result was worth it (i think they were due a change anyway).

Centralise the ARB and fit a couple of Jubilee clips. You may need to remove the engine undertray for good access to fit & tighten them.

i had this problem, fitted jubilee clips to centralise the bar...failed mot on the roll bar bushes...new bushes fitted and its not moved since.

cool will try the jubilee thing , sounds daft but where do i put the jubile clips?one each side of the proper clamp for the anti roll bar ?
