my 3.9 serp motor is poorly sick i have already posted a thread on this but to no avial i have now got it to tick over reasonably well on petrol but as soon as go to rev it /drive it the beast just starts missing and coughing and sounds rubbish i am about to crack up i cant put my finger on the problem and running out of ideas any help or advice will be greatly appreciated

Apolagies bit just new to all this and trying to use my phone as lap top ain't workin so not sure how to link and what have ya it took me long enough to find how to post new thread as screen on phone is tiny

I think the other thread is this:

wont run on petrol but will on gas

we had a range rover years ago, and it ran like a bag of hammers,
get some good quality leads (i.e. not the cheapest ones!) and when you route them make sure they aren't close to any metal bits if you can help it.

reading in the other thread that you used instant gasket... did you do a good job of it, and leave it to properly set before starting it up?

there's quite a strong vacuum created by the engine on tickover between the throttle butterfly and the valves, easily enough to suck a hole through un-set liquid gasket

I made sure it was dry is there any tell tale signs of low compression or will I need to test just to be sure

MAF, unplug it then try driving it
