It is to prevent the car from running away downhill. How the hell can you stall going downhill?:confused::confused:

Works in Reverse too - so you can go very slowly down very steep hills - backwards. :eek: :D

Very useful - can't think when I last used it though.

i will say agin, i have only EVER off roaded motorcycles and still do...
i have stalled bikes down hill because you can only really use your back brake... use it too much and you lock up causing the bike to stall!!!
you can very rarely use your front brake downhill unless you want to go arse over tit haha

engine braking doesnt work either because my bike is a 2 stroke... engine braking doesnt exist!!! lol

so again pardon my ignorance... im only looking for advice :)

chances are i will never use it!!! but if i ever decide to go and get properly muddy i know what it is and that is there IF i need it :D

again thanks alot for all your help guys

it dunt work over 6mph,or on the flat, you can drive around with it on all the time if you want and it won't make a difference.

and only works in 1st gear....I know that should be obvious, but you have to explain things to people who want to descend uphill

Properly muddy? In a freelander???:eek::eek::eek:
