Hi All.

Having looked a round a little I think my trans fault is probably caused but the XYZ switch on the side of the gearbox.
The vehicle does not try to start and I suspect it is being inhibited by this switch.
With some patience of running the shifter though some cycles it eventually will start...

So. Is it a good idea to remove the Switch, split it, clean and replace?
Or should does it need a new switch which is expensive..

Thoughts and advise much appreciated.
 
Yes, I would give it a go. It’s easy enough to drill out the rivet heads and disassemble the inhibitor switch to clean it up, you just need an effective method (small screws?) for clamping the assembly back together again afterwards, which will keep it water-tight. You can test its function with a multimeter, according to the table below.
