Look to the seller on Ebay It's a common scam to sell someone a landy and then go and steal it a couple of weeks later.

Specially if they still have a set of keys............
(I know- I'm a cynic...)but on the bright side everything turns out good...

Have you googled the number to see if it is a business? Also try calling betend to be a sales rep and probe them. If your good you may even be able to get an address.

I know a radio station in Munich called random listeners who then won a crate of beer. There was a phone stolen in the city centre so the police man called the number betending to be the radio and asked where to deliver the beer to. He was a little confused when the police turned up on his door step (Without the beer!)

Worth a try. Also if no photo or still shot why dont you try describe the logo?

I remember seeing that on ebay....

good luck in getting it back!
suspicious that was stolen just a few days after you getting it..

Another idea..... Get someone to call the guy you bought if from and ask if it is still for sale tell him that you were going to bid but couldnt get the cash together and that you now have it sat there.

If he has it or knows the person that does he may try reselling it to you!

john, I work as a cop in South Yorkshire and I live just a couple of miles away from you, so your story is quite a shock to me.

I expect that the police haven't really been able to help in the way you hoped, but if its any consolation to you, I always stop every Defender I see on the roads, and check the engine number etc to see if its a stolen vehicle.

I get lots of abuse from some Defender drivers for interupting their journey, but I couldnt care less. Suprising really, as Im actually doing them a service, should theirs ever get stolen.

I will certainly keep a look out for yours:)

Incidentally, there is a silver coloured 90 that lives in Doncaster that has the word 'Shooters' in black lettering along the sides. I think Shooters is a pub or bar. Im sure there isnt any connection, but thought Id let you know.

Good luck

You see, I just think that's brilliant, and what forums like this are all about. Well done that cop:)

Hi
Sorry to hear about your landrover going.
It seems that our stolen landrovers have different stories altogether, despite being quite close together. I have posted the info on the original thread by andylandyuk.

Hi
Didto!
Located in sheffield, and also had attempted thieft this week!!
The bastards chewed up all three locks on each of the door dismantalled the krook lock/unscrewed gear stick knob, smashed the ignition switch, broke the switch bank with hazard lights ???
Tried to hotwire realised that i had put in a battery isolating switch!!! then dismanted the battery compartment and part removed the passenger seat must have tried to jump it but no luck (As i had broken down the day before!!!) ramage through the vehicle (nothing worth nicking in it but missed the sound system amp!!) then resembled the seat replaced seat base screw back on the gear stick nob closed the doors, but why i ask?
Also quite a busy road bloody nerve!
the independant garage i used in sheffield has gone out of business any suggestions would help thanks Andy
