I hope so!!
When i got me deepender about 8 months ago the handbrake worked great. Now its fookin useless! Wont hold it still on the flat. Im assuming that its cus I drive through all sorts of ****e and the drum is full of it.
Hoping that with a disk I can just jet it clean.
Doesnt everyone else have this trouble with the drum brake?

Nope, and mine has been through loadsa sheete on Salisbury Plain. Sounds like the oil seal has failed in yours contaminating the drum and shoes with Nostopumitus.

Oil Seal? I thought the handbrake was on a cable? Or am i missing somthing?(like i often do!)

Right guys. Thanks for the info! Ive fitted it yesterday. Not too difficult, even for a spaz like me!
You were right. My old brake was full of oil/mud/**** & ****! I do have a slight oil leak somewhere around my tranfer box. It seems very slight. I dont get any drips when ive been parked (probly cus it was all in my drum!)
Any offers of advice as to where it is most likly to be comming from? It is def gearbox oil but cant tell where its leakin from and im not too confident about taking my transfer box apart.

Yes it's probably coming from the seal behind the output shaft, where the propshaft bolts on. drop the prop, undo the large Nut that you'll see once the propshaft is removed and slide the flange/shaft out. and you'll see the seal. Put something underneath to catch the oil that will pour out.
if you look from underneath, in front of the handbrake back plate, right at the bottom of the extension between t box and handbrake there is a small hole, angled back and up at an angle of 45degs. This invariably gets blocked and allows a build up of oil which then gets onto the brakes. you can normally clear this with a small screwdriver, but in fairness, I found the best option was to remove the handbrake mechanism, the back plate, the oil spinner cover, wash them all in petrol to clean them - it becomes easy then to find the hole and clean out all the crud - so that if the Tbox does leak, the oil can escape.

I think ill check the little hole option first before I remove all the disk brake i have just lovingly fitted! (took me a few hours!!)
