So no one ever mentions the dimensions of the materials?

1-1/4 inch pipe top and bottom, 5 off 1 inch pipe in between, 25 x 50 mm box section verticals, 40 x 6 mm diagonals, M16 threaded eye bolts, etc...

now that'd just incur an argument as everyone else checks the measurement on the way thru.
not to mention if its metric or imperial

oh, and its tube, not pipe :p

Suew the gates have taken awf!!!
Just coat 'em in cake and you'll be away :D

Now there is a good idea, galvanised farm gate with chocolate frosting :cool:

I can see you are already an expert, and Neil does this as well :D:D

Can tell sizes by looking at it :p

Tube or pipe depends on wall thickness (or so I was told/taught anyway) :p

I'm no expert but I do make them as part of my job sometimes :D

Was actually thinking about this while lying under the dorris' car welding the exhaust, yes what they normally use on them gates is tube as it's thinly thin thin, what I normally make em of is 1/8th inch wall on a inch and 1/4 bore, which I think is just about classed as pipe. Sorry to say you was wrong earlier, wasn't thinking of what normally gets used

Oh dear :p:p:p

Is this thread going to get into an argument about tubes or pipes on gate descriptions :doh::hysterically_laughi:hysterically_laughi

Can you lot give a description of this gate, and tell me if it should be left open or closed shut please:D

Here we have a galvanised seven bar gate, with a sprung non horse friendly latch, handle end currently inaccessible, diagonal flat bar left low to right high. Backdrop of moss covered dry stone wall, in a state of disrepair one keep post present, yet ineffective, gate in surprisingly good considering it has a ruddy great tree growing between 3rd and fourth horizontal at the latch end.
Safe to assume farmer is not concerned with the gates permanent status as open
:D
