EVENING ALL!

HAVE HAD ENDLESS PROBLEMS WITH STARTING MY SERIES 3, ALWAYS SEEMS TO BE POOR GETTING FUEL UP FROM TANK(?) OR SOMETHING?! SEE PREVIOUS THREADS, BUT..................

DECIDED TO FIT NEW LIFT PUMP AND THOUGHT WHEN ORDERING THE NEW ONE IT LOOKED DIFFERENT TO THAT CURRENTLY FITTED, BUT BEING A 'NEWBIE' PRESUMED IT WAS A MOD ON ORIGINAL.

NO! HOW WRONG!!!! JUST REMOVED IT (VIA HEAD TORCH, NICE!) TO FIND THAT ITS PART STC1190.

MINES A 2.25 (MEANT TO BE), WOULD/COULD THIS BE THE CAUSE OF ALL MY TROUBLE OR NOT? WOULD THIS FIT A 2.25 AND OPERATE OR HAS IT ****ED ANYTHING.

ANY ADVICE CHEERS

NICK

lol... silly question but did you change the fuel filter and have u run out of fuel recently?

nope to both, just always seemed to strugle to start, once up and run for a bit was always fine and would start agian almost immediately, next morning though same problem again.

sometimes! but mostly not, but with no touching throttle still the same.

Could it be just the wrong pump?

If its the wrong lift pump then you will have problems as it will either have a bad seal or not fit the cam properly.

STC1190 is for a 2.5 diesel. So you either have the wrong pump or the wrong engine..i'm guessing you dont have a 2.25

thems the right numbers, 563146 is the new number - 2.25s and very early 2.5s

But the one that came off is the later type for all the 2.5's inc the 200tdi...he needs to find out what engine hes got.

dun't matter - the new ones just have spacers and different thickness gaskets and a confusing assorted of fittings and olives (most of which don't get fitted) to make em fit even the earliest

stc1190 is original 2.25 diesel part number, also fitted to 2.5s - but only the first x00

You sure? I'm getting it as the later type for all 2.5's, n/a, td and 200 plus discovery..

The other number fits only a series 3..

Maybe thats the problem then...if it aint on right.
