Hi Guys,

I am new here and would like to say how good of a resource this is.
Very informative!!

Unfortunately I would like to ask a question straight away, I have A disco 300tdi and I have been looking with out success to find a wraparound bull bar with light protection, do any of you know of a place that still have them?

Any help would be appreciated and keep up this excellent forum

Regards

Join the club mate. I have not found one to fit the 300, although have seen plenty of pictures of them fitted.

Ebay often have them but always ask if they will fit the 300. If possible drive the vehicle to the bullbar and get the seller to prove it fits.

I am having the same problem with side steps, although plenty are around new, I would rather not pay almost £200, but cant find those £60 2nd hand ones that fit.

any 4x4 breakers,or your local independant landy garage often have them off breaker vehicles....get them to sell it to you rather than them putting it on e bay-point out the fee's you are saving them.

it seems to go in waves-one month none to be had,the next cheap as

good luck mate!:)

The EU Banned them.... The only way to get them now is second hand.

the EU banned the fitting of them to new vehicles,so the big manufacturers pulled out of making them-nothing about fitting them post sale, just mass market economics....thats what I was told anyway....anyone know the whole story?:monitor_punch:

Land Rover stoped selling them when air bags (SRS) were introduced on their range of vehicles.
Some bull bar fitted vehicles had air bag/s that didn't 'work' when required, also as stated above the EU got involved.

Think I read somewhere that the solid wrap-around bullbars stopped the D2 crushcans at the front of the chassis from crushing as designed, which in turn stopped the SRS (airbags) from working correctly.

hi ive been after a soft abar (one of them abs ones) for about a year now. when they come on ebay there go for silly money!!
i have just found a full bull bar one though... but it has a nasty break in it does any one know a good way to mend it??
cheers jimbo!!

With a welder? I assume you're on about a steel one. If it's a soft one then no it's rubbish and can't be repaired.

Or by the people that repair the plastic bits that cover cars today, they also call that welding.

Alright Shallowford... been looking at ebay today, hoping me beamers gonna get sold. Anyway, I did see a couple of bull bars on there, one was genuine new Land Rover.. that was at about 70 odd quid with not long to go and there were a few others at fair prices. I just searched..'land rover bull bar'.:)

No - The EU banned new ones from being sold... That will be why you can't find any newones for sale ;)

Better off with tree sliders than side steps imo. can get them cheaper, look better and a hell of a lot more use off road :)

they are not allowed to be manufactured inside the EU anymore, unless they meet strict guidelines, a few places sell the foam type ones that do meet the EU requirements but they are in the region of £250 new

if you're lucky you may be able to find some places that have old stock of them

I may be pursuaded to sell my genuine lr bull bar but I need to find a plastic A bar to replace it with genuine preferably.
