LOL, no.

If you are worried about a zombie apocalypse or breakdown of society, then you need a vehicle thats simple, robust, no electronics, can be fixed with basic tools and runs on old diesel.
You need mechanical injection, not ECU controlled management.

A 200TDi Disco if you want to keep it green oval, if not an old Hilux or Pajero or something like that.

What I mean is you need an engine that can cope with ****ty old diesel you have syphoned out of a generator you found on an abandoned farm. Modern common rail engines wont cope with that sort of thing long term.

300tdi also. in fact, that's the latest non-computer engine by landrover.

defender would be the obvious choice.

The only problem with a Defender is if they are anything like mine all the doors don't lock:(. Still at least they don't fall off when it rains :p

My L Series Freelander is already a "Bug Out Vehicle" as I said recently when discussing the size of the fuel tank....
I generally don't let it go to empty anyway. .... At home we live in a city that's in the shadow of a volcano that 'experts' say is dormant but 5 years ago had enough tectonic activity to flatten the city with a series of 6 & 7 magnitude quakes - so a quick and lengthy getaway is always in the back of my mind!

Depends on what you mean by bug out vehicle, like grumpy if it's just to get you out the city and away from a volcano or something then yeah fine. If it's to survive a 28dl zombie outbreak of a nuclear winter then prob not. U less your opening a zombie hairdressers, then maybe....

I'm pondering a FL restoration/Tinkering toy currently where do you find these bargains? lol

Then you need an Evoque...

at least in a freelander we would be able to get to a bug out location quicker than walking pace, dry, and warm :)

If you bugged out in a defender then
  • Half the supplies space would be taken up with a year's supply of Waxoil
  • The undead could just follow the trail of engine oil
  • If the zombies caught up then you'd have to shut the driver's window and wouldn't be able to turn right cos your shoulder would be wedged.
