i have the chance to pick up an X reg freelander TD4 with supposedly a failed turbo, which is only thing failing it on mot, for the grand total of £300.

Very clean otherwise so would you or wouldn't you if you were me???

It would be worth about £250 scrap value so just £50 is at risk if you look at it that way

hey, i'm thinking fix and sell to cover some of the costs of getting my defender sorted.
might even give it to my mother and sell her... well god knows what her 4x4 rubbish is. it's something foreign but i could sell that for over a grand and she can still pay me for costs of putting this one right with a second hand turbo so cold be good to pay of some costs.

got to have a plan my man

not really concerned as to what it is. Knowing mrs she got wrong info. I'll speak with them tomorrow.
would be a much better option for my mother than what she has and their a good motor either way so might be worth a go and if not then scrap it which would be a real shame.

300 is a good punt

in bits alone you could treble that

I'll get some better details up tomorrow so i can give you a better impression of what it is.
Thanks for your input.
Lets hope it will be ok and mother will be sorted.

plenty of help on here Hawky

with a bit of luck it'll be just the thing for her

every chance it's a td4 i have an x reg its a late 2000 model, good punt for that money, even just to break down i have a parts list already.:)

I had an X plate TD4 :)

Well worth a punt at £300, can pick up a 2nd hand turbo for £200, try buying a running TD4 for that money.

If you dont want it, I do! May even be some commision your way ;)

Just been for a gander at this and its a really tidy motor.
It's a 3 door with removable back and 2 removable panels above front seats also.
He's been told it's the oil seal to the turbo that's given out and it has very little oil in the engine. The AA stuck a sticker on saying 'do not drive, no oil' so looks like it would be a tow back job. Would there be any issues with towing this!! i thought someone once said you can't tow a 4 wheel drive n=but i have towed my landy so can't be right can it!!

I have to let him know by morning and he's now sticking out for £400 so not as good as it was.

What to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
