heh, it's ok. I love Fleabay too. :)

Regarding engines. Should I hold out for a Tdi or pick up a n/a diesel if one comes along at a good price? Or is the state of the chasis more important? I have seen a n/a C reg just now: Find 1986 LAND ROVER 110 4C SW D GREY on eBay within, Land Rover Range Rover, Cars, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 11-Nov-07 18:08:24 GMT)

I'm fairly handy with a spanner but would only class myself as a novice mechanic.

Have done bearings, engine mounts, track rods, wishbones, electrics (central locking & electric windows), thermostats/radiators etc before but am only really at the 'heat it up and hit it stage'. Can weld but wouldn't trust my life to it!

you should be able to pick up a good Tdi within your price range - here's an example of what you can get for not much money

add another £500 for the Tdi upgrade and you've got a resonable vehicle for a couple of grand

just dont buy the first one you see, unless your very very confident about it being the right one

it's a shame your after an everyday 110 as i am selling my county V8
if i can be a help then let me know .hope you find the right toy for you

maybe there are equally as bad/good ?

i am just getting really F**KED off with the ammount of money and effort i have had to sink in to my vehicle just to keep it running.

if you look after them they'll look after you? hmmm

I know i will go and buy another one but.........

I have another couple of questions regarding seats if you don't mind...

People mention that the rear benches can be easily removed with a couple of bolts. Is that for the normal benches which just comprise a frame as opposed to the bench that looks to be part of the vehicle. A few of the 90's & 110's I have seen have benches that are boxes and appear to be integral to the body.

Secondly, the middle seat in the second row. Does this come with a headrest or can it be changed for one with a headrest? Again, in a lot of the images I have seen it looks exaclty like the middle seat in the front row. Small and no headrest.

thanks.

The boot bench seats are either the metal frame ones that sit over the long wheel arches or a wooden box made by anyone that sit over the long wheel arches. The boot space is not a large flat area. Either side is a long wheel arch which is the entire depth of the boot area.
The middle seats can be swapped for high back ones. 4 bolts hold the back to the frame.

try driving a 2.5 n/a before buying. no landrovers are rockets but it might make a tdi seem like it!Solid injun tho

Excellent info here guys, thank you. Learning so much.

Would this C reg 110 be worth a look?

Find 1986 LAND ROVER 110 4C SW D GREY on eBay within, Land Rover Range Rover, Cars, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 11-Nov-07 18:08:24 GMT)

He has a reserve of £2K and says bar:

"Their is a small rust spot on the top right of the bulk head and a hole developing in the passenger footwell but they are not too bad. A 50mm square patch on both would sort them out."

that it is mechanically sound.

Seeing as I can weld (badly) these could be fixed, but does this imply other hidden horrors?

The ebay listing has a list of repairs he has made to it and he states that the chassis is solid.

Any advice please? Should I go to view just to get an idea of what not to buy?

thanks,

looks like a goodun - have a drive in it just so you can see how slow/fast the na engine is - it doesnt look like it'd been messed with to much either - it is quite high mileage, so as was said before you might think about adding £500 to yer spend to put a 200 in - deffo worth a look

oh and before you start it feel if the engine is cold
