:confused::confused:why is it that my truck would be worth more in bits than in one piece, is it worth spending loads on it to get it back on the road (i know the answer to this one already - yes).
it just baffles me some of the prices on ebay etc for spare used parts and some not even in excelent condition...
ps - does anyone know if the military series bulkhead would fit onto the civilian series 3 without any hassle........:confused::confused::confused:

Because most people don't like murdering the old beasts and just bolt new bits on to keep them alive! So not many get broken....unless stolen

I'm not 100% sure but can see no reason why a military spec one wouldn't fit, given up repairing your one then?

i just dont think that mine is worth mending, especially has i am not a welder nor have i done any (have been offered lessons) i am thinking that rather than buying the bits individually i could spend that on a decent bulkhead.... (think it worked out about £175 a side (door pillar, bottom pillar, top bracket, footwells, accross the top (where the fly screens are is completely shot)... so that i mind if i can get one for say £100 then i am quids in...... (dont try convince me otherwise i like that thought of saving money)....
johny - i am sure when i have taken it apart it wont be worth anything to me (just the pikeys) so if you want to come accross and collect it i will give you first dabs on it....

Looking at it, if you're really not that confident with the tools then it probably is worth buying another bulkhead and slinging it in, it'll most likely cost a bit though for a perfect one, but if just the footwells need doing or something then you should be ok

Gotta question why you bought it though!

well i didnt think it had so much that needed doing to it, it all works fine and runs sweet as a nut a few oil leaks but nothing major, didnt see the rot till i started to dig about with it (did have mot and tax on) and thought it would be good to work on as all the bits bolt on and off (or so i thought lol) - really enjoying stripping it down and fixing it back up (just wish our lass wouldnt keep saying not to take anything else off and just get it through mot)....

give me a shout when yer ready mate i likes a challenge i does (itll get me outa this fookin house aswell ):D:D:D

Dont spit out the dummy mate, i have spat mine out loads. Got so close to just packing in and weighing her in. As i have said many times on here, i have no time, cash nor experience of welding and she needs abit of that :D. But going to keep soldiering on. She will be worth it in the end.

The little time i have on my days off from work, i spend working in a garage for the extra cash (Betty fund), so juggling family time, betty fund time and betty repair time is hard. But as weather gets better betty repair time will be taking first point. Also daughter likes to help (or get in the way) somtimes.

Hard day at work today so feeling tired. I read your post all wrong, thought you was going to take it to bits and sell it all lol.

no not yet i aint, i scouring ebay and the likes to find bits i know i am going to need, got me brake kits all sorted and they should be here next week, but still undecided regarding the shocks, £45 paddock ones (all round) or splash out on some pro gas shocks, got to be careful at moment as need to keep some money for this bulkhead.....
u got any pics of yours up on here yet

Every time you have a close look at rust you find more, ad every time you start to repair it you find a load more again, allways the same no matter what the vehicle is.

Chin up fella - don't get too down aboot it - **** me, if I got like that, none of my many many many restos woudl of been ****ters in a scrappy by now :D

Save some cash, buy yerself a new bulkhead, and take some time fitting it in.

If yer going to stay stock springs, and just want it to MOT and run, then just by some bog standard dampers - i'll bet the ones on there are totally fooked - mine are.....

well i bidding on a military bulkhead at the moment which is in very good condition so hopefully that wont be too much hassle... plus just bought myself a welder this morning so cant wait to get started with that..... i will take some pics of the shocks, they are cacked in some sort of tar stuff and dont look like they have moved a mm in years.....
i wasnt fed up with doing it - just got her indoors wanting it back on road quickly and i would rather take my time and do things really well......

Good - had me worried fer a second there, fella !

Quick way to check yer shockers if ya don't already know it:
take one off, and push it down to full compression... it should come back up nice and quick...if not - it's fubar'd.

going to be doing that on tue when fitting me brakes, if my mate returns my wheel brace... and they arrive by then....
