Does anybody know where I can download an operating manual for a Land Rover MkII hydraulic winch then? Or just some general info on the Dowty hydraulic system it uses - like what kind of oil to use in it.

Just realised I didn't say thanks for this info last week - all downloaded now and coming in very useful already - thanks alot! :D

I actually paid money for this 'link' on that well known online auction site..

LandRoverClub.cz

very useful. I hope to buy all the appropriate manuals that I need as well (hard copies), but I doubt I'd be able to find some of the other random bits (like add-on parts and the like).

Hey guys,

Like one of the other posters, I am after MKII winch details, and have tried all the ones I can find, to no avail.

The Landrover dk link, is actually Danish, which up until this month was impossible to translate unless you knew the one unadvertised university web tool.

Well anyway, if it is on the Net, then the new thing that Google has just put up is wonderful.

It won't translate pdf files and things like pictures that have not actually got text, but goto translate google (look it up), and thn find the link to tools.

Drag the "English" button up onto you toolbar or favourites dependant on your browser.

Now go to any site, in nearly any language, and when it is loading or loaded, hit the "english" button you put there.

Quite clever but maybe a bit innacurate.

If you want to translate a PFD file there is a way.
open the file, copy the text select a bit then right click and use "select all text" then paste it into a programme that can save files as HTM or HTML.

Save the file with a name you will remember, "seriesIIAManual" or whatever - no space or punctuation. to your desktop or wherever. then open the file in your browser (double click it).

Now when it is loading, hit the "english" button, and when done, save the english text with the original PDF.

Its a new thing, and might not work on certain setups, but does on my ten year old Mil. Spec Laptop.

Hope that is useful, and MKIIA manual please

JG
