Couple of mornings this week, the clutch has felt very very sluggish for the first 5 mins, not depressing and releasing with the usual ferocity of a defender.

Would this just be the cold, or the symptoms of a failing clutch ?

Any help, much appreciated

If its just this week I would bew inclined to see how it is when the weather warms up. It may be the rubber seals in the Master Cylinder going a bit hard due to the cold.

I have had trouble with DOT fluid in the cold before to. Keep an eye on it, but sounds like it could be the weather.

I had a problem with my slave cylinder. Basically it wasn't retracting all the way in. It was causing my clutch to slip. The pedal felt how you described.
