My 83' 110 won't start, it started only two days ago but that was with a jump start. Now after charging up the battery, still get nothing, I've cleaned the battery terminals as well as the earth and changed one of the fuses. The only weird thing is the engine doesn't even turn over which makes me wonder if its electrical. Either that or the starter motor or something.. Anyone else familiar with this problem?
 
Could be, but then why would it start after charging, because you're not really using the battery you're using the power being generated by the charging unit.
 
Haven't checked, there's a voltage gauge fitted which reads in the green area and it has enough charge to power the electrics. What I don't get is why it won't turn over, unless the battery is shockingly poor.

What about the connections at the starter motor??

Are they clean/secure??

Is the little wire even connected assuming you dont have a multi meter check for voltage with a leadlight ;)
 
Don't know how long the batteries been on there. Hasn't been mine for that long. Well the earth and minus are secure, think we have a voltage meter somewhere. Sure its not just faulty wiring in the dash?

It could be, but it's more likely to be the battery or the starter motor ;)


When dealing with electrickery probs alway, always start at the battery and work ya way along in a logical sequence,

Battery voltage,
Terminal connections,
Fuse,
voltage to suspected faulty component,
Earth continuity from suspected faulty component.

Not exhaustive but hopefully you get the idea ;)

Found out it was the solenoid on the starter motor that's buggered so had to remove the starter motor. That was easier said than done! Just gotta get it fixed now and refit it.
