Can any one tell me where this plate is normally fitted on a military 90/110 that has had Wolf wheels retro fitted?

yeah on the dash top above the clocks, want me to take a photo of where mine is? it came with it in this location direct from the MoD - i was first owner
 
I think I know where you mean, if you get a chance to take a photo that would be great.
I presume that it is stuck on rather than rivets or screws.

Mine sits in the middle of the dash between the ash tray and light switch, on the vertical fave with screws. I think location was subject to who installed it
 
What was the reason for not mixing wheels? I no nothing about wolf wheels other than what they look like - what is the technical differences?

the dishes are quite thick heavy steel so wolf wheels have longer studs and higher tightening torque as wheel is more prone to come loose
 
170Nm equates to 125 lbft that's a lot. I have wolf wheels fitted to my ex MOD 90 and I was unaware of the extra torque required or the reason for it, thanks for the info!
 
The extra torque setting was so that wild wheels could be used on short (normal) studs - was extensively researched by LR and the MoD at the time.

The warning plate is so that a vehicle with wolf wheels doesn’t end up with under-torqued wheels that might fall off.

125lbs/ft is DFT. mine have never fallen off and I have the normal studs.
 
I did look at putting the longer stud on mine - until I saw the price!!! £4.74 for the long ones as opposed to 46p for the 46mm version.
I'm in the process of fitting longer studs to mine, yes they are bloody expensive!!!!
I accept that the short studs are OK, but they looked so wrong with the exposed threads in the nut, so I bit the bullet and ordered long studs. It's not a 5-minute job to fit them either, at least I have a hydraulic press.
I'm a tight-arse, so spending £94 on 20 studs was quite traumatic, but nagging doubt had set in and I knew that I wouldn't be happy with the short studs.
 
Unfounded worry, you wasted your money!
I know that the rational argument is that the short studs are OK, the army will have taken advice before they retro-fitted Wolf wheels to their older fleet, presumably from Land Rover. I can't give a rational argument to the contrary, but the short studs looked wrong.
The reason I swapped is that the studs were quite a few threads short, it looked wrong and I knew that I would sped the next few months / years looking at them and having doubts.
I fully accept that I didn't need to fit longer studs, when you use the short studs there is a lot more thread used than it appears, as you don't see the tapered section of the nut against the wheel.
My tight-arse guardian angel was sat on one shoulder saying, "don't worry, they will be fine, the army used them like this", but nagging doubt sat on the other shoulder and wouldn't shut up.
Sometimes you have to ignore rational arguments and just get on with it, it's a little bit like being married.
 
Tbf, I habenitnin the backmof my head that if they need replacing at any point I will fit liver studs.....

I just try not to look at them to much :/
