I’m just getting to know my new (to me) Wolf Defender 110 FFR. Put a meter across the batteries with the engine off which read 25.4 then started her up to read 25.2!? I’m presuming it should be nearer 28v when running. So where to start looking for the issue? Any suggestions welcome!

When charging batteries in series they should be of the same type and age. Are they the same or is one different to the other? You can measure the individual batteries to check what voltage they each hold.

Ok so sorted. The engine needs a touch of accelerator before generating the expected 28v. Which it’s doing now. Time to get to grips with the split charge system now. Getting two new (leisure) batteries for that. Anyone know if the big red isolation switch is live when pushed in or out??
 
Generator seems to go all the way up to 32v when at speed or with four on the accelerator. Should there be a regulator somewhere? At standstill the generator is supplying 28.6v but on the road this is more like 29.5v. I’m thinking I need a DC to DC charger to even out the over voltage supply from generator. Ideas anyone?
