Wee lunchtime update, After soaking in plusgas and WD40 for a couple of days I clamped the mount in the vice and a mixture of twisting and tapping with a hammer they both came off fairly easily. The bushes seem in good condition so in order to get the car back on the road this weekend I bolted it together with the new wishbones. The new bushes are on the way and will probably get used at some stage but for now this will have to do. Next job is to refill the IRD and gearbox oils and refit the battery. Then it will be ready for the big test. Will report back later tonight so fingers crossed.

Well done! You're a better man than me.

Is plusgas just kerosene, like heating oil?
I seriously doubt that! I had tried thumping them off but that wasn't working so left them with a pool of Plus Gas and WD40 to work into the joint for a couple of days.
It seemed to make the difference.

As for heating oil it certainly smells like it.

I always undo the nut on the end first if taking the wishbone off then undo the rest and you have the car to hold that bush on and you can twist and pull. Also I hate these firms the make you pay extra for postage to northern Ireland as it is part of the british isles
