Hi i have just started to finish off the 300tdi into a 1985 110.
It arrived engineless but has had several different engines over time including i believe a 200tdi last time.
I am fitting a 300 out of a defender but have only the loom that was left in the land rover which has been butchered muchly!
So as to avoid fires in the future i have today removed the starter alternator part of the loom at the connector at the bulkhead which is pretty much toast (one of the wires is snapped from the connector), is it possible to still buy these plugs or is there a type of connector people are using that is a better way forward? Also there are 2 wires running from this loom i have't identifed yet! i have worked out the starter/alternator, water temp but the other 2 i haven't yet
Any help with part numbers or advice on updating this loom would be appreciated.

Hi Mate if you can get your hands on a defender Hanes manual it will give you the different wiring diagrams
& looms at the back, its a pita trying to identify a loom, )been there done that o_O
The original motor is a LR 90 4C model, google will be your friend ;)

Btw I have a scrap disco 300tdi if your needing plugs off the loom ;)

This puter isn't showing images but I imagine the other 2 wires are for glow plugs and oil pressure....
Actually, there should also be a wire for the stop solenoid on the I.P.
Cant remember the colours of any of them though......tis late!!!!

Cheers I have been through the various diagrams but its like going back in time there are multiple grafts into the original loom over the years !

Stop switch an glow plugs I have wired in although not from this particular bit of loom and are ok. Think you might be on the money with oil pressure I'm now trying to work out what guage the wire is!

Hi all, I have a sort of related question regarding 300tdi engine wiring. I am tring to fit a discovery 300tdi engine into my defender, the engine came complete with its loom but obviously the connector plugs are different. My question is,has anyone managed to fit a 300tdi disco engine into a defender and wiring it in? Many thanks.

Good evening, many thanks for your reply and wiring diagram, I think it will come in very useful. i have actually been attempting to sort it out today, pretty unsuccessfully. It seems i have more wires on the discovery engine loom side. I have attached some pictures so you can see what i mean. I just seem to be going round in circles . Things like grey/white wire from the alternator, where does this connect to? Also egr wires red/blue. The pictures show the plugs that have been removed from the engine loom.
Thanks for any help.
