Hi guys, so far so good with my new Disco, just one minor annoying niggle.

I can put my wipers on but they wont go back off again until I switch the engine off. I'm not very mechanically minded but was thinking this may be a faulty relay/switch or something?

Anyone else any the wiser?

Cheers.

Looks like it may be the switch going by the older topic I found. How easy a job is it to change it?

Ok cheers. I'll find a guide for this as there is an airbag in the wheel. If it seems manageable I'll try it myself, if not I may need to get this done in a garage.

Hi James
I've just changed my wiper switch on my 97 Disco and didn't need to remove the airbag and steering wheel.
Remove top and bottom covers over stems, remove 2 screws and gently prise out the wiper switch.
I changed mine cause the intermitant keeps stopping and starting but changing switch aint worked so now going to change relay (green) behind panel next to your right leg when in driving seat.
Hope this helps

Regards Dave

assuming its the same as the light switch then you need to remove steering wheel, i've not done a wiper stalk on a discovery yet though so i'll take your word for it dave.

Just for future reference though - removing a steering wheel with an air bag is a doddle - disconnect battery, leave it for ten minutes, undo the 2 screws holding the air back into the steering wheel (these are on the back of the steering wheel) then pull it out, unplug it and put it somewhere safe... undo the nut holding the steering wheel on - leave it wound on a couple of threads and yank the steering wheel towards you to loosen it off, leave the nut on so you don't smack yerself in the nose and once everythings loose take it all off. simples.

Ok guys thanks. I'll obviously try the easier option first, but taking the steering wheel off doesn't sound too bad if required.

I'm reaping the rewards of Land Rover ownership already lol!

Thanks for advice on steering wheel and air bag, I'll keep this in my book for the future.... No doubt I'll have to take it off sometime!!!!

Dave

I would also try the wiper motor assembly if changing the switch is unsuccessful.

I have some spare column controls here if you need one to try.
