My 2004 V8 was parked for a few months while the engine was rebuilt and is now back on the road. The following problem has presented itself:

-When driving with the low beams on, the wipers come on when either the high beams are turned on or the horn is honked.
-The wipers stay on even if the I turn the high beams off.
-The wipers stay on until I turn the lights either completely off or to the driving light position.
-The wipers run a few more cycles then stop in the park position.
-The rear wiper does the same.
-If the lights are off and I flash the high beams or honk the horn, the wipers do not come on. -
-If I don't use the high beams or the horn, the wipers (and the low beam or driving lights) work properly.

Thoughts?

Bad earths, check they are all clean and tight. My disco would cut out and not run or start if I turned the main beam on, found a loose earth behind battery.

The interior fusebox is very suspect, common failure with a hige variety of symptoms... though i'd not rule out an earth issue too

I had similar problem with my td5, it was a loose earth behind passenger side headlight. Not sure if the V8 model has the same earth point though

Thanks for the replies. I finally made the time to investigate further. I was really hoping it was not the fusebox as it would be a more difficult problem to remedy. Since all three of you mentioned an earth issue as a possible cause, that is where I started. The first thing I looked for was the earth point behind the headlight mentioned by steve24v and yes the V8 has the same earth point. And it was loose! A quick clean and tightening solved the issue. Nice to have a quick, easy and free repair for a change. I appreciate the help. Cheers!
