Want to be a bit more environmentally friendly and see if it is possible to just buy rubber refills (cut-to-size) and fit them front and rear??? Don't like replacing the whole wiper blade with carrier and blades - seems very wasteful. Any suggestions?

Are they 6.5 mm? easily done with just a pair of bull nose plyers to open up the end clamps and reclose them.

Eight clamps along the length of each of the wipers (two shown below):

Yes 6.5mm wide at the top (steel rail inside the rubber at the top where it is clamped along its length with eight clamps).

I always used to do this.;)
And for kit cars which have shallow(?) windscreens, there is almost no other way.
Funnily many of them have/had old LR wiper arms and blades. ;)
People call me a tight bastid.
Now "tight" = "green"!!!:D:D:D

Okay, next time around that's what I'm doing then, settled - will be buying just refills from Tridon and cutting to 21" (530mm) in length (Tridon metal rail MRN24-2); hate throwing away a perfectly good wiper blade assembly just because the rubber is a bit worn! I'm a greenie too - abhor unnecessary waste and a throw-away society!

One man's "tight bastid" is another man's "greenie"!;)

And as I have just posted on the other thread on this, you only need to tightly clamp it, so the blade holder won't move, on the top two clamps on the driver's side and the bottom two on the passenger side to allow it to slide throught the other six, conform properly to the windscreen's shape and wipe properly.
If all 8 were tight on the one you took off, it looks as if someone had a tightening fit. Not necessary.
Yes, I did check on mine to find this out as I too usually buy a whole arm!;)
