Hi! This is my first post as I have desperately been scouring yhe internet for a solution but have found nothing.

The wife has a Freelander 1 (04 plate) and the wipers will not park properly on intermitant. I have fitted a brand new motor assembly as the park switch is built in and still no result. In fact its got worse. Before it would park halfway up, stop for a few seconds, then return to the correct place. Now they only stop right in the middle of the windscreen on all wipe settings!

Anyone got a solution?

I had the same fault a few years ago but with lots of use (I'm in Ireland ) they came good by themselves. My current Freelander stops in the middle of the screen if I use single wipe but I suspect it is a faulty switch. I replaced one before and they are simple to swap and cheap of ebay, I just haven't bothered cause SWMBO drives it 99% of the time and I can't be arsed.

Ive been told that the park switch is inside the motor housing on our Freelander. Im hoping the ECU isnt the problem

It's most likely the wiper stalk assembly. Like I said a cheap and fairly simple job once you figure out the connector. It's been a couple of years since I did it but I remember it isn't obvious when looking at it so I had to look for instructions on the internet.

The park switch is in the wiper motor assembly. It's not uncommon for the contacts to become contaminated with hardened grease from the motor gearbox. You need to strip out the motor and open the casing so the switch can be cleaned and re-tensioned. There's little ECU control on the FL1, just a quick pulse from the CCU at pre-set intervals for the intermittent wipe, which probably isn't working correctly at the moment.

FIXED IT! It was so simple it should have been obvious. The nut holding the motor shaft to the wiper linkages had become slightly loose and had mis-aligned the arms. simply loosened the nut, moved it back into the right position, then tightened again

That was a pointless waste of £50 on a new motor

when putting the arms back on where the end of the wiper blade sits the is a little cross on the windscreen have it sitting on there and all will be ok
