Can I have some advice please.

I recently changed the bulkhead on my 1962 2a from it's fragile original to a rust free one from a late (1970) Series 2a. Because the later bulkhead already had the later wiper motor on the left hand side ,I kept this on and had the luxury of two synchronised working windscreen wipers.
The wiper motor worked for 3 months and stopped.
I have read that a Series 3 or indeed a 1984-98 Defender wiper motor will fit but only with modifications.

What have other members on here done - recondition the old motor or buy a new one?
What do I need to recondition or overhaul the existing 46 year old one or which modifications are needed to replace with new? Some new ones are branded Lucas, others not.

Thank you all.

The most likely cause of it stopping is worn brushes - small graphite rods that press against the rotating conductors of the motor to supply electricity. Cheap to buy and easy to fit.

Have a look in the technical archive at the top of the series page.

Before you do anything just try keeping the motor wired in and loosening the two nuts on the bottom of the motor housing. If you have moved it out of alignment whilst playing with it it may simply be jammed.
Like I say. Loosen the nuts switch on and turn the cover each way a few mill. See if it fires up again.
If it does, re tighten the nuts while it's running.
