I was driving thru Birmingham last night in the rain and the passenger wiper arm stopped!!!! I managed to pull into the services but the passenger side seems disconnected. The nut that secures the arm is tight but I think the linkage has snapped.
I am about 300 miles from my rave CD! Can anyone tell me or post an image of how the wiper linkage works?
I am at my in-laws for the weekend so can probably get my hands on some tools but I haven't got a clue what bits I need to remove to get at the linkage.
So if anyone can tell me how easy it is to get at the linkage or how likely it is that I can fix it even temporary?
The passenger side is held down by a bungee but the drivers side works!!! :)

Thanks.

Remove wiper arms and air intake moulding/plenum, 12 of them plastic studs hold it on.
Motor and linkage underneath, take out 3 bolts to remove.

Cheers. Just checked and main dealer shut :( oh well I will have to hope we have a rain free few days.
Thanks

Snap. I used two cable ties to hold an elbow together on our 2002 TD4. I did this as a temporary repair before changing the assembly. The same week I happened to change the plenum/escutcheon on our 1998 Camel and noticed that the same trick had been used on the vehicle which we had had a few years by this point.

I love "get you home repairs".

If you do decide to replace the assembly it is available from LR with the wiper motor or without. Also worth getting some of the plastic screw rivets that hold the plenum in place.

Cheers

Thanks, looking at the rain forecast I should be OK on the way back. I will certainly investigate the cable tie fix when I get home. I will buy a new mechanism but till I can get to the main dealers I may try the cable ties. :)
Thanks
