I am just finishing off a Wheels up restoration of a 1986 90 V8. New brush set for the wiper motor arrived today which i was hoping would let me finish off and seal up the dash. Brush set fitted and motor works as you’d hope but for some reason when you turn the wipers off they return to the top (vertically) rather than horizontally. Completely flummoxed. New wiring harness, new stop switch and new brush set. Not sure it would make a difference but could I have set the rotor wheel 180 out or is it a polarity issue somewhere? Is there a different stop switch for LHD that I have bought by accident? Any ideas or solutions most welcome. Thanks

Haha, it certainly felt like that. A head scratcher for sure but sounds like I might to 180 out on the rotor. I’ll fiddle and report back
Hmmm. Tried that but still head scratching. Was rather hoping that was it but I reset the rotor wheel so it rests on the other side of the stop switch but wipers still come to rest at the top position when they are switched off!! Rotor wheel is spinning clockwise. Is that correct but then again how could I have got the polarity on the motor wrong when its all plug and play in the harness and neg earth? Can't fit the brush set upside down as its keyed even so, would that would make a difference to the rotation direction? Don't think so. Running out of sensible ideas other than getting LHD wiper arms but that would be crap as wipers would be on the wrong side of the screen and would really annoy me that I had to bodge it. Having just said that how are LHD models wired? This is behaving like a LHD setup.

Still head scratching. Checked the book again and wiper motor, brush set and stop switch all only have one part number. No LHD or RHD option. You can of course get left or right wiper arms but how do you control the direction of the motor? Re built the whole damb truck and stuck on this !!

Which way are the wheel boxes?
Tube should be at the top
Haha!! You know what, I just drove to the shop to get more beer and on the way back I remembered on a series 3 I did a while back one wheel box is up and then other is down as the wipers swing in and out towards each other not left the right in parallel and I wondered exactly that. Have I fitted the wheel boxes the wrong way up. I’ll check tomorrow and report back. Thanks

It was some time ago that I had the wiper position problem and it was something in the wiper box that sorted it. Could it be moving the pin on the drive wheel to the other side of said wheel. In fact just what is mentioned in the video.

Thanks All. Problem Solved !! The collective power of the similarly afflicted!! @tottot you were bang on the first time. I just didn't do it right. I just turned the rotor assembly 180 in the motor housing. Like that was ever going to work!! However, turns out there are two ways you can set the park position to L or RHD setting. 1 is to spin the wheel boxes 180 in the bulkhead but that would probably be obviously wrong to the naked eye as the routing for the drive cable along the bulkhead would be all wrong. The second, which is the correct way is to spin the drive cog 180 on the rotor shaft in the motor body. There are keys on the cog to allow you to do that. Did precisely that as per Video (thanks @Scooby22). Gotta love Britannia Restorations ! and wipers are now working perfectly and parking on the correct position. Thanks again all. Finishing straight for the V8 now and then embarking on a Wolf upgrade project so will no doubt be back with more questions. Thanks again

It was a few years ago while fitting a new motor to a mates landy I had the problem, as soon as I saw the video I remembered what needed to be done.
Good luck with finishing your resto, there is just something that makes you :) when driving a V8 110.
