well seen as I have my landy finally I figure that I might aswell keep fellow landy folk updated with my work on my truck and hopefully share what I learn and get advice on anything as I do it.

As of yet there is very little to report that is my own work but here's a few pics of what the previous owner has done













as you can see it's already had all the rot removed and the panels replaced.
it has also had alot of the bushes replaced for orange polybushes. new teflon swivels have been fitted along with a TF steering damper and hd steering arms. so now she is pretty much ready for me to put my own touch on her.

she still has a couple of small problems like the rear door was scrubbing the plastic between the bumper and the door shut but i have now adjusted it so it closes nicely with no interference. the front passenger door had problems with the window jamming at funny angles and the outside handle rarely worked but i have fixed these by adjusting the handle and replacing the lower grip bar on the window. now the only problem on that door is the lock not always fully unlocking. is this what i have read about the door spring?

I need to replace the drivers door hinges as they are badly worn so I have to lift the door to get it to shut without the top corner hitting the b post then adjust the rear door handles so the doors open without having to snatch the exterior handle.

surprisingly the roof lining is all where it should be and the sunroofs don't leak but I think the rear roof windows need attention as i get a tiny dribble of water on the parcel blind if it's really wet out.

the only other thing it to then set about servicing her with a timing belt as I don't know when it was last done. but all my little fixes can wait for now as I am currently skint and she needs taxing.

only thing left to say is that I hope to meet up with you guys/girls out and about on the lanes and at the shows
 
I hope to keep this updated as I go hopefully with pics aswell. I already have a mk3 astra, a mk3 cavalier and a mk2 novavan the cav and the astra are staying but the van I need to get rid of for space. my cav i have had since 2009 and it has now hit 203000 miles so if i can keep that going I should be able to confidently play about with my new landy. but of course I don't claim to be an expert so I am always looking to learn from others and hopefully teach others aswell what I do know
 
mate wish i kept my cav 2.0 my mrk2 lxi 1.8 and the one i miss the most is my cdx2.6 carlton. my second car was a 2.o ltr carlton estate the old cast engine loved that. Estate at 18 the back seats where never put up lol
 
my cav was only meant to keep me on the road while i fixed my astra and it's now been my daily driver since '09 and my astra still needs moting and taxing before it goes back on the road lol
 
Jeez, I've just bought a disco 1. It needs a boot floor and inner wing patched and hopefully that's all, yours looks a big job but if you can weld and do a bit of fabrication it's Verny satisfying. Good luck
 
i already have a welder and am happy that i have the skills to do a decent job of welding. all thats shown in the pics is of the work done by the previous owner so i can't take any credit for the work already done but i now have a good base to work from as it still has a few problems, standard for a disco, that i am starting to tackle.
just wanted to show the state that it was in.
not too sure if I'm glad to get one that has already been done to this level as i was prepared to tackle it but at least i don't have to. its one of those things that im glad its done but at the same time i would have liked to have had the fun doing it.
 
well managed to earn the tax by helping a relative move so she is now back on the road :D
anyone know why my washers would be pathetic to the point that the drivers one only just reaches the screen? I have stripped the system down and not found any blockages and the passenger one is fine. could i have just missed a blocked jet head on the drivers side?
 
got the alternator light glowing dimly at idle and it gets dimmer if i put the sidelights on and dimmer again with the dip beam. i have checked it with the tester at work and it's fine with and without load. i then came home tonight and had to splash in a few puddles :D and the alternator light came on really bright. could this be a damp electrics issue, the belt slipping (i have recently tightened it) or a dying alternator?
 
decided that I didn't like the lower plastics of the front bumper so stripped them off and had a gremlin put the corners back on

switched the cracked rear light for a better one switched the dickie seats left to right so the belt buckles clip away as they should and found the wires for the second horn today. figured I would make the most of the random day of good weather
 
can anyone enlighten me on my alternator light issue please. it's starting to bug me, but I don't want to be getting an alternator if its just a wiring issue or a damp issue that someone has sorted out cheaply
