Don't forget Lidl has windscreen-wash in 5 Litre bottles that's good for -60degreesC!

And coolant anti-freeze tester/hydrometers.

Cheaper than anywhere else too.

Nipped into Morrisons by work today and they had 2.5l of screen wash concentrate for 2 quid or 5l premixed for £2.50...

Hi SV
On a previous thread you mentioned wiping windscreen wash onto the door seals to prevent frozen up doors - do you just wipe it on neat or diluted ? :)

Brack:
I used the Lidl -60 stuff undiluted. Better than Meths. Mrs SV doesn't like the smell of meths.

Daz:
I think it was £5 for the 5Litres. I poured in a good 2.5Litres right away and I'll perhaps mix the rest to make a -30 fluid.

Thanks for the tip SV

Some folks are using vaseline, silicone grease, or rubber grease - which mud and grit sticks to - likewise cooking oil.

Mrs SV would be unimpressed getting that on her clothes.

Hi to mrs SV, I can see who wears the troos lol
just put some w/wash on - goes on a treat I was a bit worried about it rotting the rubber though if undiluted

Ha ha! Mrs SV has a lot to put up with - we live in the country a couple of miles from the nearest tarmac, in what is often a 'sea of mud' at this time of year, and a fair bit of it gets in the car and on the side steps.

No grumbles with washing off 'clean' mud from clothes, cars, or even from me and our pets - but the line is drawn at getting grease stains off jackets, trousers, etc. ;)

Purchased some of the -60 Lidl stuff today ..

I have been using the windscreen wash quite a bit of late salted roads..
so I got 10 L for £11.98,,

so was £5.99 for 5 L..;)

Now if it stops raining I can get some in the car,,,

That hydrometer will not work with the OAT coolant the plastic bit just floated on the top and reading with above 0 degrees C

Ok for the old blue stuff & screenwash only !

mine read ok with the red stuff and you know why Mrs SV wears the trousers -------Because it is Bloody cold where they live

I had the same with one purchased off eBay,,

worked OK on the blue but not the red..

The red seems to be thinner in consistency,,is this normal??

Completely bizarre.

Mine works fine with blue or red antifreeze.

Doesn't work with screen-wash though - but I didn't expect it to.
