hi,
Anyone used another switch apart from the Lucas 814854 for their windscreen wiper/washer? The contact at the end of the switch has broken and am wondering if there are any alternatives. Cheers

Yep,
The windscreen wiper (two speed rotate function) and windscreen washer (push)

If its jjust the washer part that's broken any push button would do i suppose. Why don't you want ot get another lucas one?

Also why do you guys have posh two speed wipers? I only have slow as hell or stop.

I have a spare switch assembly but it's the single speed flavour.
Not sure if you can swap the micro switch alone, never looked that close.

The wash switch on mine died this week, the only wash/wiper switch I could find online was a single speed, and was £30 odd. All I needed was the wash switch.

Blanchards have them for about a fiver, SPB100. Remove the dash, undo the two wires, and the wash switch unscrews from the wiper switch. Refitting is reverse of removal

Thanks for the help guys. Looked at separating the switches but not enough space on the dashboard. Back to single speed it is or 100€ für a new twin speed. Anoying thing is that it is just the green switch at the end that has broken off.

The contact is just held in by a small screw has it not just come loose. IE 6mm lucar blade which is reduced at other end to go into the hole on the micro switch then secured by screw the same as the black wire at the other connection from memory.

Mine died last year. You can't get the two speed switch anymore. The single ones are also expensive.

Yup, the rectangular bit on the back/end of the switch body is SPB100. If that spade has broken, the wire can be cut and screwed in same as the earth is on the other terminal. I guess the spade is only there really to make it an insulated connection, it being the live input.

Mine was actually broken in the switch. Very flimsy looking thing inside, though to be fair it lasted 35 years!

Incidentally, spb100 doesn't come with the spade terminal. Save the old one, or just screw the wire straight in.
