Looking to buy a replacement seal for the top of my windscreen, have not been happy with the quality of the last one I fitted.
Does anyone have any knowledge of shore values ie hardness / compression strength.
The item I am looking at is ebay

I can't help with specific data for the original seal but at a compression of 35% you'd need quite a big gap between roof and windscreen (about 7mm) to fit that thickness of the thing you've found on ebay - I know Land Rovers are meant to be a bit rattly but...

I recently removed my hard top so change to a full tilt. I fitted a very similar type seal about 5 years ago when I replaced the screen frame etc. I would think that seal would fit ok if it compressed 3-4mm

The stuff that is in there now measures nearly 10mm compressed. I think II have an offcut from when I fitted it will find it and measure that.

Whatever seal you use it probably needs to be skinned so it does not hold water. I used the correct seal for the bulkhead to screen seal and wasn't happy with it as I was convinced it was open cell. I later ended up carefully masking taping the seal and skinning the edge with marine grade black silicone.
