my windscreen outer rubber has slits around both lower corners and is fairlly brittle in general,as im respraying the 90 soon i need to sort this.

can the rubber seal just be replaced or is it part of the wole windscreen?

any advice tips or help with this please

you can carefully push the screen out of the seal, paint the frame and refit a new seal, just got one for mine about 25quid off ebay, quite simple to fit using a draw cord or pop it round to local windscreen place and get it done for a rew beer tokens

I would suggest you cut the windscreen out from the inside rather than try and pop it out. They are likely to break. A new seal costs about £14 from lrseries. Better still, ask your buddy to remove and refit. It is painful to see your screen crack as happened to me a few weeks back when a mate decided to assist and rather than cut rubber... he popped it and it broke.
I got the new one fitted for £20.... believe me, worth every penny after watching.

i'm looking at doing the same thing and have a double suction cup lying about
is it easier to use something like that? how exactly do you get the screen back in?

cheers

This is another link that may help Defender windscreen removal & replacement, - LR4x4 - The Land Rover Forum.... but from my own experience if you want to give it a go make sure you have a new windscreen priced up. I got mine for £35 in Bolton. Remember that with a new rubber it will be a bit tighter to get in than using the old one.... I still say pay a fitter. You have been warned :D
