Hi.
Tonight I've been attempting to fit a new windscreen in my 90.
In people's experience who have done this is it best to fit the seal to the glass or to the window surround first??
My thoughts were to fit it to the glass first but the seal seems too big and doesn't locate properly. If I fit it to the frame it fits fine..
Either way I had a mare of a job trying to fit it so any advice gratefully received. The seal is labelled as oem but I would have expected it to fit more snugly..
 
hi it is alot better to fit the seal to the glass the seal will look bigger but once it is fitted it will be ok
 
That's what I thought but the seal is too big to fit the glass. Anyone else experienced this??

It is actually one of the easiest jobs I have done. The worst part is getting the seal all of the way around the glass.

It is a real pain to fit and you end up with black hands. It does seem like the seal is too big for the glass, but then all goes on nicely, just keep trying. I used a Bearmach seal.

Just put some thin cord all the way around the inside groove, make sure that it finishes with a loop each side, then put the glass in, give it a shove (but not a big one) so it is seated properly then pull the chord evenly around the edges. It just needs to be so that the seal is infront of the metal edge it covers, then go around the outside pushing the corners in. I used the guide above, very useful.

See I've heard it's an easy job, But it probably worries me more than any other job I've done.
Still going to give it a go anyway.
 
Paracord works quite well in the groove as it is smooth finished and doesn't seem to 'grab' the rubber seal as much as nylon twist cord does
 
Done it tonight. Took a lot of perseverence to get the seal on the glass and for it to stay on but after that fitting was quite easy other than the washing line cutting into my hands!! Gloves would have helped!!
New issues emerged now tho!!
