Hi all, ive got 2 windows that dont open they just grind. Ive looked online and ive found out that i need a window regulator cable kit but how would i know if i need the motor? Prices seem to be from £20-£120 so i assume the lower price is just for the cable and the higher side includes the motor?

Thanks

Changed a passenger one on mine earlier this year, this one from Rimmers CVH101202P1, didn't think you could just get the cable, but for what's it's worth change the the lot?

Might be worth buying the two required and discuss with the garage labour costs. This would save time and money from the garage mechanic from searching and waiting for delivery. Expect a good mechanic to charge labour cost and disposal for old parts.

yes might do that thanks. Heard that the freelander 2 you can buy the cable and motor separately but for the freelander 1 it costs more as it only comes as one unit. Is this correct?

My front passenger window cable snapped last winter. My fault for accidentally hitting the buttons when it was frozen. Got a new cable and motor from John craddocks for around £40. Very easy to fit. Don't think you can get the cable separate as it winds around a plastic cog and goes through a thin plastic sleeve but the cable has a nipple attached so wouldn't be able to fit through.
