Hi all
My wifes 52` reg TD4 developed a crunchy sound when winding the drivers side window up and down. Having had it all taken apart the regulator is knackered, cables broken, caput. Genuine replacement part is £120 and the pattern is £55, not sure what that means though:confused:, prices plus vat. Has anybody had any experience with this, is it possible to get second hand parts or non- genuine or is it best to bite the bullet and replace with genuine parts?

Many thanks in advance
Martin

I tried an "Allmakes" pattern regulator. Been on 8 weeks, so far so good. Have kept the original motor just in case! The cables were shot, but motor ok!

I got a cheap pattern part off a mate, it was in his shed waiting to replace on his car. Still working 18 months later but they are nowhere near as smooth as the genuine regulators. Mines made a funny creak/crunch since new.

If you are handy with the spanners then i would fit a cable kit. We get ours from a supplier who also sells on ebay for £20. They are the ones with the ends pre fitted and the correct length. We fit the first 9 months ago and its still going strong

hi when doing the job which ever you choose and I chose allmakes do not tighten your bolts up runit up and down and up again to the top make sure the window is sitting properly in position then tighten up if this is not done then the window will not fit right hope this helps

I used one of the cable kits from ebay, first was faulty but replaced without delay, 2nd has been fine and I would use them again :)
