Buy an application kit. And spray a washing up liquid/ water mix on window makes it easier. Removing the glass is best and you can't clean enough!
my tinting man says he never takes glass out as never goes back in the same , and looking at how he does it theres no need , mind he told me hes done 10 thousand cars in his time

Jeez he has done a couple!!

I used to fit the windows, certainly if is string in like the rear quarter lights, then can take out.

Also there is spray glass smoker on the market which you definately have to take out. I plan taking my rear windows out and replacing with one piece laminated glass and probably smoking it.

Hello everyone, I want to tint the back windows on my county for privacy reasons, when it comes to window tinting i do not have a clue:confused:, im just wondering how other people have managed to do theirs or can shed a little info please?

Just what are you doing in the back then, shagging or drug dealing?? Get yer sen a bloody van.

Always learning new words on here. Get bit of a laugh when you google them. Being half a world away from the uk some very unique sayings.
so far i have learnt the term and the use of the word pikey, pants, chav and now reem. I am sure there are others that i can't remember too.

As for the window tinting. None seem to remove glass when tinting but if i was doing mine and had the time i would, being a noob at tinting. Removing the glass makes it much easier. I wouldn't use spray on stuff, would be a nightmare to get all the glass even.
Last time i watched the tint guy do them at work the process seemed to be; he sprayed the outside of the window with water to hold the film in place while he cut it to shape.
then polished the glass both inside and out. Applied soapy water to the inside glass and peeled and placed film. After that used something the size of a credit card to move the water and bubbles out from the film. He went over it with a heat gun at the end.

I used the Disco ones from the company, really good fit and easy to use, thicker than other window films!

Just make sure your windows are really clean.........

Done mine with film off ebay not a proffesional finish but looks good if you take your time. I couldnt be bothered taking out the rear seats so with that an the roll cage the film sticks to everything but the window! Lots of swearing that day:mad2: and i just left all the bubbles in one of them. Its only a defender at the end of the day eh?

i got my mirrored film off ebay for about a fiver and it comes with a credit card sized squeegee and a small razor blade.
use loads of soapy water (ideally from a squirty bottle)
always put the film on the inside of the window
when i did the back window i ruined 2 pieces of film thanks to the wind, it's a good idea to have a second set of hands to help you.
and be warned, i tinted my porthole/roof corner windows and they can be an utter bastard if your going to attempt them.
But like everybody else has posted, look at some vids on youtube, it will give you the best idea and some helpful tips

if you have any glass thats not flat the secret is to put on the outside first and get some heat on it to shrink to the shape ie- hair drier , then transfer to the inside ....doddle !!

Any one know where i can get a kit that jsut does, the rear door and the two windows ether side, I dont have any other windows so seems a waste to buy a kit with the lot in, even if it is only £30 ?
