Hi all,

I think in its previous life my P38 had one of its side windows smashed and the previous owner must of struggled to get the same piece of tinted glass to replace it.
So I presume he must of picked up another piece of glass and had that bloody awful window tint put on it. Well now its started to look rubbish, it looks crinckled, it needs to come off.
Has anybody had any experience of under taking this sort of job and if so can you share with me how you did it,

thanks in advance,

Dave

heat gun and a scraper (ideally not metal in case of scratching glass) should if its a home tint come of pretty easily.

then just use a small amount of fuel (petrol) or strong cleaner to remove any sticky residue.

As said it should come off easily enough, Had some on an old mk2 Golf, Just heater up a corner got a ice scraper then peeled off. and cleaned it.

Peel a corner and pour boiling water from a kettle behind the film as you pull it off the window. Should just peel away as the glue softens.

a hairdryer might be a little better choice to heat the film up with as its not as fierce as a heat gun

to remove the remaining nglue believe it or not wax furniture polish ( mr sheen ) turns the glue to blobs like chewing gum and it clumps together without any smears like petrol makeing it that much easier to remove

What he said. Get a stanley blade after. Squirt a lil fairy liquid on it and scrap anything left off. No scratches ;)

used to do this on the taxi signs on the fleet as long as you take your time
1 you dont end up with burnt fingers
2 the glue comes off with film
