1. I have personal experience of a J**p main dealer. Utterly, utterly beyond useless. Perhaps that's where I lost my sense of humour.

2. Tinted windows are dangerous in that they stop you seeing through the idiot** next to you to see what's coming.

3. I've now had my L322 for over a year. The previous owner had removed the tinted film, but had not removed the thin film of glue that had attached it. I still scrape away from time to time,and it's getting there, but there are still slightly psychedelic effects if you peer through the wrong place.

** Usually in an old Corsa.

I removed my window tints as Indeed very hard to see of a night time , just left the boot side tints on, a lot easier not having the tints when trying to park up

I used a large wallpaper blade scraper to remove all the glue whilst using white spirit , all came off as I know it can slow the glass down as the glue hits the rubber weather seal

Put some washing up liquid which aided the blade going across the glass

Hi All,
Just picked up this thread again. It certainly seems like a Marmite subject. Mrs Tricky drives a Citroen C8 that we've had from new fitted with factory privacy glass and integrated window blinds from the B post back. Although you can still see well with the blinds up in the daytime, it is quite a surprise to see how much clearer everything is when they are down. Needless to say, I make a point of lowering the blinds whenever the car is going to a workshop as you can't see anything once it gets dark. Compared to any dark tint film I've seen, factory glass is far better but as my RR is 2005 I don't think privacy glass is available for that year model from C post back due to the exterior trim strip. Unless anyone knows if I can retrofit the 2006 rear glass trim then blinds are the best option to satisfy my kids desire for hiding from everyone when in the back seats...!! It's certainly better for Luther the dog when caged in the back.

Perhaps, as everything, it depends on common sense. If tints are too dark to see through, then they are either illegal , or ,the person looking needs to take their even darker sun glasses off. Especially at night

If someone's tints, in another vehicle, are inhibiting your view, every chance they are illegal, ergo driver is a Richard. So stop worrying about seeing through the tints, let him/her go on their way, away from you. Once they have gone,you can continue on your merry way, now they are no longer a problem to you.

Addit: I've just checked and from the house I can see through my front and rear windows, both sides to almost the other end of the road*. So legal tints dont seem to be the problem

*can't see end of road even if not looking through car

Just been out and looked closer. It would appear, apart from the 'tint' I had professionally put on one window, as it was different to the others, my tints are actually privacy glass. I'd never thought about it before and never clean the inside glass myself, always get it done by guy who valets cars. Can still see through without issues.

Front windscreen must allow 75% light through, front side windows 70% cops have a light meter “tintman” anything less than the above is illegal.

Not forgetting the rear and rear sides can be as dark, as a dark thing, on a dark nightr. Windscreen and side front , as said above, if you can't see through it , it's illegal, unless you have your sunglasses on at night. That's an easier guideline for those who do not have a VLT device. Even more simples

What I find annoying, especially when driving the car that's lower than the Rangie, is the following:

Waiting at a junction to turn left. Someone in another vehicle dashes up and stops with his/her bonnet sticking out into the road. His back windows are darkened, so it is now impossible to see through two layers of dark and check whether anything is coming from the right.

In the same situation, if I'm about to turn right and the second vehicle there, I hang back at the junction so that the person turning left can see when it's free to go.

If I'm the second vehicle there and want to turn left, I usually stop slightly behind a right turning vehicle so that I don't obstruct his view and can see behind him to see what's coming.

And, it's often those with cars even cheaper and older than my L322 that are most annoying with the dark. I expect they have just applied the cheapest.

OMG, I'm getting boring............

Much the same as me, have been know`n to hit the high button so I can see over the top of them.
