Afternoon all,

Had an issue over the summer with the little man and our Labrador getting uncomfortably hot in the back of the Range on a trip down from Scotland.

So I'm looking at having the rear windows tinted.

Any opinions on what I should be paying for a company to do this?

Or...it it easy enough for someone with no technical ability (;)) to do it myself??

Cheers

I did the back door on my 90. Was reasonably straightforward, kit online was cheap. So cheap that it doesn’t matter if you mess it up!

Apart from tints, you can get blinds that attach with suction cups. As long as the aircon is working they do the job.

If you're looking for shade, then 'shades' it should be :) I have tinted windows but I wouldn't leave it just to them to shade the dogs. I use blinds as well. Ive also been known to rig up my jacket.
How much 'heat'/UVB rays get through depends on quality of tint. The cheaper you buy, the less they stop.

P.s Blinds can be left up , whilst window is opened a tad. Can't do that with tints ;)

I did a car years ago and it was ok but you need to get it completely clean and it can be awkward trimming it perfectly without removing too much at the edge, but then I am a biff at fitting carpets as well. If you can get a professional to do it cheap enough then i would, it is like fitting a massive mobile phone screen protector ..

The window tint and tools are cheap so at the risk of wasting £20 - you could give it a whirl yourself.

I know I'm repeating myself BUT the cheaper the film, the less UVB it keeps out. Also you're right, it needs a steady hand and a lot of patience if you're new to it. When I got the Golden Girl, one of the windows had lost it's tints. I took her to a local tints guy who did it minutes, then again he was doing it professionally. He explained there were different types and the UVB thing , then asked which I wanted. I,obviously, opted for the expensive one, as it was for the dog, not just for 'the look' . There was a nice bit to the story: as I went to pay for it , he wouldn't take my money , as he is a supporter of the Forces. thumbs-up-sign_1f44d.png
Back on track, buy the best tint you can afford and buy some blinds.

Thanks all, I think I'll plump for a decent professional tint. The AC works well enough too so she doesn't over heat.

I've not had reggae reggae sauce in ages....want it! Now I know what I'm having for tea tonight!

i have a set of custom shades in the RR, rear door windows, rear sides, boot glass about £70 complete. https://www.carshades.co.uk/

the RR is the baby carrier and it keeps the sun off her, and the windows can be opened giving breeze no insects and keeping the shade. i love them

If the dogs cook in the back rather than tints maybe a few chips and some reggae reggae sauce sauce maybe a better option.
Our Arab friends seem to quite like dog meat. I've seen my neighbours when I was in Africa grab fresh road kill and in less than 20 minutes the meat was on the BBQ and the skin pegged out on the lawn to dry.

Bought some for the Audi as they were cheaper, if they're good I'll pick some up for the Vogue. Getting both sets will work out cheaper than the best quote we had for tinting just one car!

Thanks for the suggestion matey

Hi,
Love the look of these blinds and will be getting some next payday. Don't tell Mrs Tricky though, as she is still a bit grumpy about the set of 22" Super Severn Alloys I bought a few weeks ago. They are awaiting an overhaul and polish before they go one the Beast. LOL.
Tricky.

22" wheels on a range rover?!

curb feelers!!

I bought some of these car shades for our Q3 and installed them today. They were easy enough to fit, weren't a 100% for but we're pretty darn close and haven't slipped or fallen off on the journey home.

I'll be buying a set for the range after pay day
