hi im after a winch that i can use on the front and back of my defender been looking at the ones on ebay that pull 6000lb will they be any good just to give you that little bit of extra pull if not what do you recomend cheers phil

I'm guessing that you have a 90?
 
yes i have mates but when your a game keeper your out late at night when most rattys are in bed thats why i need a winch that fits both front and back

The reason for my statement was that yes a 6000lb winch will pull a 90 if it's soley to 'give that extra little pull' but if you want to pull anything bigger (like yer mates disco or 110 when they get stuck) or your own vehicle stuck good and properly it will only be man enough for the job if you rig it correctly with several snatch blocks.

As for the rattys being in bed, this ratty is working until 6am (providing I finish work on time) so won't see my pit until the morning.;):p

What are the chances of you getting stuck? What sort of surface would you be getting stuck on? What would you use as an anchor point to extract yourself? Would you be on your own or have someone with you? what are you intending to use as a universal front and rear mount? If you are thinking about receiver mounts you have to use in-line pulls.
