Hi, I'm new to this world and could do with a winch. I know this must be a common post, but my phone won't let me search and I don't have access to a computer.

I have a 300tdi 97 disco. I've fitted a winch bumper and now need a winch, got stuck a few times and luckily been with a winching friend.
I don't have the money to spend £500 on one and can't see much second hand. I'm not a hard core off roader and won't be doing crazy things with it.

A few guys have said these are good, is that the case. Or any others people would recommend?

Both a bit small, look at the tigershark by superwinch, good entry level winch and not too pricey. I bought mine from the electric winch shop and can't fault it.

no, I've heard lots of good reports on the warrior winches and a good few people I know have them. Thinking of getting a pair myself too for my trayback as it's a big step up in price to something like a Redwinch!

My mate had one on his tray back n he said it was good, only had it fit 12 months so as fit how long if will last I don't know, some of them are all brass or something to stop the internals rusting.

I like Ramsey winches. I had one on my previous landy, and have a Rep8000 on my current 110. Plenty of pulling power and very reliable, even works when fully submerged in mud :D Not the quickest winch though, but I don't need a fast winch, just a reliable one.

You really need to be looking for some that can pull a min off 1.5x the weight of your landy
so lets say your landy weights 2ton-"2000KG" s you will need a winch that pulls ATLEAST "3000kg"-3tons
so something above or around 8000lb
a 9500lb or 11500lb or even 13000lb

I always worked on a factor of two, something that can pull twice the weight of the vehicle.
